Arsenal's goalkeeper Highlights Team's Strength as Essential to Silverware Challenge
David Raya has stated that intense competition for first-team spots is fueling Arsenal's outstanding form, with the keeper confident that the team's roster under Mikel Arteta is so incredible that they can compete for various titles throughout the campaign.
Dominant Wins Showcase The Gunners' Prowess
Arsenal's recent 4-0 triumph over Atlético Madrid represented their sixth straight victory and 10th success in 12 matches. With only three goals conceded—the fewest at this point in the club's history—they have secured a narrow advantage at the top of the table and a flawless start in the European competition after three outings.
Rotation and Depth Crucial to Success
Raya has started in almost all matches, aside from one Carabao Cup encounter, but Arteta has frequently changed the lineup following significant summer investment on new signings. When asked about competing for multiple trophies, Raya said, "Yes, I believe so. The depth is amazing. We have numerous options who can excel in multiple roles."
For instance, against Atlético, a teammate was introduced as a striker and is capable of playing as a No 8 or attacking midfielder. That versatility is what the boss has, and it's being utilized to benefit the team. Things appear extremely promising, and this roster strength is crucial for us.
Competition Elevates Performance
Raya added, "That gives you an extra level in practice and matches because if you slack off, you can lose in a fraction of a second. That fosters intense rivalry in sessions and during matches, which is really, really important, and the whole squad accepts it."
Defensive Solidity a Team Achievement
Arsenal have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and the keeper has faced a mere one attempt in their last three wins against three opponents.
"It's a collective effort from the forwards to the goalie," Raya explained. "Everyone is focused, no one wants to concede, and we aim to intercept passes prior to it crossing the midfield. If we intercept, it allows a fast break. It's crucial for everyone to feel this mentality, and we're not allowing many chances, which is perfect."
