Bottling up the league's best running game was also key, with James Cook and company recording just 86 yards, their lowest of the year and just over half their 161.5 yard season average

Additionally there were the three critical ball losses, and the pair from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the scoring area resulting in a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that Miami turned into a touchdown just later

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defensive side and Allen trying to do too much to dig his team from the situation - rather than the calm, controlled, balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this season

Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the jury's out on if this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the Patriots are quietly moving into a comfortable advantage at the summit of the AFC East

Regarding the Patriots, they're among three 8-2 squads in the NFL, all AFC sides, but are they the top team?

You can pick holes in the Patriots, Denver and Indianapolis really for dominating the weaker opponents, with only five of their combined 24 wins achieved against teams with a winning record - and one example was the Indianapolis beating the Denver

While you can argue who 'the top team' is technically, the Patriots should be favourites to finish with the best record due to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a huge one against the Bills

Traveling to the Ravens is also tough, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the schedule

The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There's a considerable distance to travel but the door is available for a shock top seed in the AFC

Next Week - Los Angeles and Seattle Prepare for Next Week Clash

Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three 8-2 sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to reach seven and two ahead of next week's major meeting between the pair in LA

Both have secured four victories in a row, have signal callers in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units allowing under 20 points a game

Each could easily be undefeated as too - especially the Rams as their pair of losses came in extra time against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning field goal with the last kick blocked and run back by the Philadelphia for a touchdown

Seattle also lost to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the last kick of the game against the Buccaneers - so they're truly two of the best sides in the league

The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year to date
