Shock as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The reason of the shooting is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was exiting a building in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site managing the installation of safety equipment, which had been reportedly taken over by squatters, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement stated.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and clad in what looked like a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was hit but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to find their destination," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, a close relative, expressed the family was struggling to process his death.
"I am devastated. I am shattered," she stated.
