The Latest Relaxed Game Mode Ignites Heated Discussions Regarding AI Players, XP Rewards, and Wait Times

Over the weekend, the game developers introduced a new playlist called Relaxed Breakthrough. To put it simply, this mode resembles the regular Breakthrough format but includes a few notable changes:

  • Each team has just eight real players, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
  • Activities done by real players award complete experience points, while bot actions offer reduced XP.
  • Just a pair of locations are available: Cairo Siege and Empire State.
  • Elements like Dogtags, accolades, and career stat updates have been turned off.

In short, this mode lives up to its title: it's a laid-back version of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think it's a good idea, as it provides more options for players seeking alternative ways to enjoy the game. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it's that you can't please everyone. Which is to say, a lot of BF6 fans are upset.

Community Responses: Anger to Praise

"Gamers prefer human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your competitors," reads a response to the official announcement. "Truly disappointing concept," says another. At the same time, in community forums, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are going with this title," and another details all the issues they believe to be problematic in Battlefield 6: "Fix bugs, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."

On the other hand, for every complaint, there are players sharing how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's very relaxed," reads one Reddit comment. "The community fails to see that there are players who have lives and don't play this game 24/7. Allow them to strike a balance," states a different comment. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is great for me," while someone else applauds the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Constructive Concerns and Player Feedback

All that said, there are constructive reasons to complain about the new mode. A few folks have pointed out that it could increase wait times more extended for other modes because of the sheer number of playlists currently available. Similarly, certain regions already encounter AI-filled matches in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a required amount of real players, despite it primarily centers on combat against bots.

Lastly, a major grievances is that a previous feature was promised to provide complete rewards, even against bots, but that was removed when they attempted to eliminate XP farming from the system. So Casual Breakthrough feels like the community compromising in the middle, as per a Reddit comment. A different user describes this addition as the developers "making a mistake significantly, I had so much fun in the initial release, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Future Prospects: Adjustments Occur?

Should the development team has proven anything to date with the latest installment, it is that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Tasks that were overly hard were adjusted rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. Chances are that, if their data shows this recent mode is underperforming to their expectations, they won't be shy to change it again.
